Fashion Inc.

Fashion Inc. Update:

What is Fashion Inc:

Fashion Inc. is a campus organization in the Design, Merchandising, and Textiles department at Western Kentucky University. We focus on promoting fashion awareness and interest in fashion careers throughout the campus and in the community. Our special aims are to broaden vision and provide background in the field of fashion merchandising, by means of outside speakers and student projects and to contribute to the college and community through fashion related projects.

TOMS Style: Your Soul Party

Tradehome Shoes and Fashion Inc. and partnered up with local artists around Bowling Green to promote TOMS shoes by hosting a “Style Your Sole” event on March 5th at Tradehome Shoes in Greenwood Mall from Noon to 5:00pm. At this event, customers can purchase TOMS shoes and have artists and Fashion Inc. members assist them in painting and personalizing their TOMS. We desperately NEED members to help host this event. If you’re interested in volunteering please contact Erin Kirby.

Why are we hosting this party? Because…

A leading cause of disease in developing countries is soil-transmitted diseases, which can penetrate the skin through bare feet. Wearing shoes can help prevent these diseases, and the long-term physical and cognitive harm they cause.

Wearing shoes also prevents feet from getting cuts and sores. Not only are these injuries painful, they also are dangerous when wounds become infected.

Many times children can't attend school barefoot because shoes are a required part of their uniform. If they don't have shoes, they don't go to school. If they don't receive an education, they don't have the opportunity to realize their potential.

The more shoes we help TOMS and Tradehome shoes sell, the more children won’t have to go shoeless!

Earth Day Tie-Dye Booth

Fashion Inc. members are discussing putting together a tie-dying booth for the Earth Day festival alongside Perspectives of Dress and their Earth Day fashion show. The idea is to charge a couple dollars for a T-shirt and have tie-dying bins for students to tie-dye their own shirt. Chairperson of this event is Anna Agisilaou, and her contact information is below. If you are interested in helping out for this event please contact her!

Fashion Awareness Day!!!

Fashion Inc. will be having a Fashion Awareness Day in DUC on March 17th from noon to 3:00pm where we will be getting the word out about our organization and recruiting members for Fashion Inc.! We also will need members to help run and operate the booth!
